PRAIRIE ROCK OUTFITTERS
Prairie Rock Outfitters is located on the famed North Platte River in western Nebraska. The name “Platte” means “flat” in French, and it comes from the first exploration of the river in 1804 when the Corps of Discovery, discovered it at the confluence during the Lewis and Clark Expedition up the Missouri River. It was noted and well documented that these early settlers observed and hunted the rich wildlife diversity along this flat sandy river such as elk, deer and lots of waterfowl.
Today, Prairie Rock’s hunting properties covers over 300,000 acres and stretches down more than 40 miles of bottom land through the same exact path the early settlers established in their 8,000 mile journey to the Pacific Ocean. One of the historical landmarks that we are known for is the infamous Chimney Rock, which you can see in our company logo.
Along this stretch of American history, exists one of the most inclusive populations of game species found anywhere in the lower 48. We currently offer hunting services for huge Rocky Mountain elk (Nebraska residents only), large mule deer bucks, giant white-tails, two sub-species of wild turkeys (including Rio/Merriams hybrids and true Merriams) and an enormous wintering population of mallards and Canada geese.
Once In a Lifetime
Prairie Rock Outfitters is a large scale and very unique environment to visit. Every hunt is a truly wild experience as you take a journey through the giant cottonwood stands and dense Russian olive thickets where the wild animals seek shelter when they’re not feeding in the vastness of the irrigated corn and alfalfa fields that Nebraska is so well known for.
