PRAIRIE ROCK TURKEY HUNTS

If you know anything about the Nebraska wild turkey population, you know it is off the hook. Again, with all the river bottom ground and Wildcat Hills properties that we have, we can honestly say we have access to hundreds of wild turkeys to hunt. Down in the bottoms, you’ll see Rio/Merriams hybrids in huge flocks. Typically, you’ll sneak into the cottonwood bottoms well before first light, sit and wait for the first gobbles, and when they light the woods up, it’s a sound you’ll never forget. Gobbles from every direction will send chills down your spine and make the hair on your arms stand up. The river bottom turkey hunting here is insane. For you Grand Slam seekers, we also offer special hunts for true Merriams turkeys in the Wildcat Hills of western Nebraska. Located high above the river bottom, the Wildcat Hills form a classic ponderosa pine and sage grass environment that is perfect for flocks of Merriams. Yes, the ones so famous for their beautiful frosty white feather tips. Merriams don’t typically flock up like the Rio strains, but the isolated populations scattered along the hills are a different experience. It’s more of a mountain hunt.
